Pakistan hands over list of 66 most wanted human traffickers to Turkey, Iran, Greece
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has handed over the list of 66 most wanted smugglers involved in human trafficking to Turkey, Iran and Greece.
This was said by director general FIA Tariq Pervaiz while talking to the journalists on conclusion of 2-day meeting of joint working group comprising the representatives from Pakistan, Turkey, Iran and Greece. The group is aimed at taking joint measures for prevention of human trafficking.
Tariq Pervaiz said the four countries will enhance mutual cooperation on prevention of heinous crimes and human smuggling. Legislation will also be enacted to curb the menace of human trafficking. The four countries have also agreed to gear up the pace of patrolling in border areas.
It has also been decided in two days meeting if any human trafficker is arrested in any member country, he will be handed over to the respective country within forty days after preliminary investigation, DG, FIA told.
Giving further details of meeting, he informed that the four countries will evolve a regular system of exchange of information related to prevention of human smuggling and elimination of organized crimes under which they will exchange information among them on this count. Focal persons have also been appointed in this connection and the four countries have given the names of their respective focal persons.
Pakistan has provided list of 66 most wanted human traffickers to Iran, Turkey and Greece and these countries will also furnish a similar list of most wanted human smugglers to Pakistan.
The next meeting of joint working group will take place in May next year in Tehran and a ministerial level meeting will be held on December 15 and 16 in Turkey.
He told Afghanistan will also attend the next meeting. Border security will also be strengthened so that the offenders are apprehended.
