Fugitive Darryl Crenshaw Sought in Ex-Girlfriend’s Death

Ashley Peoples was last seen by relatives driving off in a car with her ex-boyfriend, Darryl Crenshaw.

The last time Ashley Peoples’ family says they saw the 22-year-old, she was headed off to work at a car dealership. When she didn’t return home to Enfield, Conn. the next day, her stepfather immediately called police.

What they later learned of Ashely’s fate shocked the entire community.

Authorities discovered that Ashley had, in fact, gone to work that morning of Aug. 8, 2008. Her co-workers say her ex-boyfriend of two months, Darryl Crenshaw, came to see her. They say Crenshaw started an argument with Ashley, and violently shoved her out the door. Cops say, at that point, he left, but he didn’t go far.

Police later learned that after Ashley finished work that day, Crenshaw followed her to an appointment at a local salon. That’s where customers say they saw Crenshaw drag Ashley into his car and punch her in the face.

What’s worse, police learned that after he allegedly killed Ashley, he took another woman on a date to an amusement park.

Neighbors Call Police With Evidence
Ashley was unaware that Crenshaw was out on bail for kidnapping and assault charges on a previous girlfriend.

The news of Ashley’s whereabouts came the following Sunday, three days after her disappearance.

A neighbor called police to say they had seen Crenshaw entering his home with a body over his shoulder. Police immediately went to check Crenshaw’s apartment in Enfield, where they found Ashley laying in Crenshaw’s bed. She had been badly beaten and strangled to death.

What’s worse, police learned that after Crenshaw allegedly killed Ashley, he took another woman on a date to an amusement park.

Police have since charged Crenshaw with Ashley’s murder, but they say he took off before they could arrest him.

Crenshaw was later seen in surveillance video withdrawing $200 from an ATM in Hartford. That was the last anyone saw of him, but it was not the last time anyone would hear from him.

On Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, Hartford Police say Crenshaw called Ashley’s stepfather, Rev. Baskerville, and was crying on the phone. He says Crenshaw was begging for forgiveness.

Police say Crenshaw is dangerous, and has threatened to harm police if caught.

Police say this isn’t the first time Darryl Crenshaw has had a run-in with the law: he is also facing kidnapping and assault charges.

Another of his ex-girlfriends, Savani Jefferson, told police that he choked her when she tried to end their one-year relationship in April. Jefferson told AMW, “I was lucky because I survived”.

She says he then hit her and sped off with her in the vehicle. Savani alleges that Crenshaw later dropped her off in Meriden, Conn., and threatened to shoot her if she told anyone what he had done. Crenshaw was later released from jail after posting $50,000 bail.

Horror Outside Late-Night Latino Dance Club
On most nights, Vicente’s Cuban Cuisine is a popular hangout for Detroit’s Cuban and Latino community. But on the night of September 23, 2007, cops cordoned off the storefront with yellow police tape, as it morphed from a late night dance club into a brutal murder scene in the blink of an eye.

When cops arrived, 25-year-old James Hampton was found laying face-down on the pavement outside Vicente’s with multiple gunshot wounds to his head. Once they blocked off the scene, they were faced with solving the mystery of his murder.

After talking with eyewitnesses, officers with the Detroit Police Department learned who the alleged triggerman was, and the manhunt began immediately.

Scuffle Over A Girl Yields Tragic Consequences
According to police and witnesses, a female friend of James Hampton had been talking to Pedro Fuentes throughout the evening. Though James was initially jealous, she calmed him down and told him that he had nothing to worry about — Pedro was merely a good friend, not a romantic interest.

The friend told police she thought the situation was settled and that any potential conflict was successfully avoided. She and James then had a few more drinks and partied the night away, but the good times came to an abrupt halt when the pair left the club together.

At that time, someone threw fistfuls of ice cubes through the night air, striking James, and enraging him. Police say James approached the group who he thought threw the ice, but was intercepted by the club’s security guard.

In the midst of the fracas, cops say Pedro Falcon-Fuentes reached around the security guard and shot James in the face, killing him instantly.

Cops say Falcon-Fuentes then flew the coop and hasn’t been heard from since.

Cops Hope To Nab ‘Falcon’ Before He Sinks His Talons In Again
Though he has not been seen since the murder, cops believe they can find Pedro Falcon-Fuentes with the right tip.
They say he may be found in Puerto Rican communities throughout Florida — most notably in Tampa, Orlando or Miami. He may also have fled to his native Puerto Rico, where he still has family.

Even though Falcon-Fuentes does not have a criminal history, cops believe he may be involved in the drug trade. Authorities say he may be associated with the Latin Counts street gang, but they have no solid evidence to prove it.
What they can prove, however, is that Falcon-Fuentes was a member of an up-and-coming Latino rap group called Los Camballanos. But while he may be running from the law, cops say Los Camballanos carries on.

Now cops hope they can track him down with your tips, and cage this violent ‘Falcon’ for good.

Cops: Explosion On Streets of Bed Stuy
NYPD Detective Keith Wallen was sitting at his desk the evening of January 5, 2007 when he heard what he describes as an explosion. He’s used to hearing gunshots coming from his beat, a rough area of the Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, but that night, he thought something had blown up. Within five minutes, he received a call that there had been a shooting on Lexington Avenue.
He had hoped that it wouldn’t be the first week of the new year when he caught the year’s first homicide, but just four nights after the crystal ball dropped into Times Square, a young man was dead on his turf, and it was his responsibility to find the person responsible.
He now calls this investigation the strangest homicide case he has ever handled.
The detective quickly discovered his victim was 15-year-old Stephon Williams, an innocent, unintended victim. He also immediately had a suspect, 30-year-old Jamal McFadden, who went by JB on the street. The detective was told the weapon was a Desert Eagle, an ornate, rare firearm not typically seen on the streets of Brooklyn. Detective Wallen’s investigation also found a unique set of circumstances leading up to the homicide.
Bleeding and bruised, Jamal vowed to get his revenge.
Cops: Unusual Circumstances Lead To Murder
Two days before the killing, cops say Jamal McFadden called another thug’s home in the neighborhood, looking for his mother. Cops say McFadden had just gotten a fresh shipment of drugs that he wanted to sell to the woman.
The guy knew his mom was a user, but also knew that she was trying to kick the habit. He quickly told McFadden to leave her alone, and to never call the house again. The next day, cops say the guy saw McFadden on a corner near his house and began yelling at him again about trying to sell drugs to his mother. The two got into a fistfight, in which McFadden lost badly. Bleeding and bruised, Jamal vowed to get his revenge.
Cops say Jamal got his revenge the next day when he came back to the same corner, armed with a huge Desert Eagle gun. Police say he saw a group of people hanging out, including the guy who had beaten him up the day before. The group saw the gun, and began to scatter. That’s when police say Jamal fired one shot, which pierced into the back of 15-year-old Stephon Williams. Stephon was rushed to the hospital, where he died soon after.
Detective Wallen calls the 15-year-old boy an “innocent bystander” who was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now, he needs your help to hunt down the suspect and bring him to justice.

Police Say Sumlar Is A Dangerous Counterfeiter
Law enforcement sources tell AMW that Dante Sumlar is wanted by the U.S. Secret Service and three different police departments — St John’s and Nassau County Sheriff’s Offices in Florida, and the Houston Texas Sheriff’s Office — and is under investigation by even more for his work as check counterfeiter, a profession that has netted hundreds of thousands of dollars in misgotten spoils.

He is also wanted for questioning for a 2006 homicide in Jacksonville, Fla. Police say this is a dangerous and wily man who has developed quite a reputation for taunting the authorities who pursue him.

It wasn’t the last time he had taunted the police. He has even called up officers to turn himself in — without keeping the appointment.

Jacksonville, Fla. Police Detective Elizabeth Sutherland clearly remembers the day last year when she was eating lunch at a Red Lobster and received a crudely written note on the back of a receipt from a server.

It said, “Lunch on me, Dante Sumlar. Mrs. Sutherland, have a nice day.”

Sutherland, who cops say works as a counterfeiter, instantly recognized the name. She had arrested him many times before, and she knew he was a wanted man.

Sumlar, though, had already left unseen after having an extravagant meal. He hadn’t left any money with the server to actually buy Sutherland’s lunch, knowing that a sworn officer couldn’t accept the gift. He was just going out of his way to tease the police after more than two years on the run.

“He must have seen me come in,” she says, “and instructed the server to wait until he was leaving to deliver the note.”

It wasn’t the last time he had taunted the police. He has even called up officers to turn himself in — without keeping the appointment.
Cops Call Sumlar A Crafty Ringleader
In 2000, Sumlar was identified as a major ringleader of a counterfeiting scheme. Investigators say he and his cohorts would recruit from the down-and-out — immigrant laborers, drug addicts, and the homeless — to cash fake checks through parts of Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. Sometimes, cops say, Sumlar’s group fooled the men into doing real labor, or had them wear fake uniforms, just to add the illusion of authenticity to the scam that netted hundreds of thousands of dollars. Other times, Sumlar threatened their lives to keep them in line.

Sumlar and six other individuals were caught and arrested, spending three years in prison. It was in prison, though, where he laid the groundwork for his next counterfeiting scheme. Investigators say he found a loophole in the way prisons credit inmate commissary accounts, which he plotted to exploit.

As soon as he was released, cops say, he started to recruit people to be arrested for small-time crimes in Florida county jails in order to deposit fake checks in their accounts. He was running this scheme until 2006, when he was caught apparently trying to cash a fake check. Authorities say he posted bail and fled before the totality of his schemes — over $150,000 — was revealed.

While on the run throughout the South, cops tell us Sumlar continues to run counterfeiting schemes. And in December 2006, cops say one of Dante’s partners in Jacksonville, Fla. was gunned down. The last person he was supposed to be meeting with was Sumlar himself.

Authorities say Dante Sumlar has achieved an “almost Billy The Kid, cult-like status” while on the run, and they need your help to track this armed and dangerous criminal down.

The U.S. Marshals in Louisiana are looking for accused rapist John Stephens. Agents say Stephens is the kind of fugitive that needs to be taken off the streets — and fast. Stephens is wanted by the Ascension Parish (La.) Sheriff’s Office for Aggravated Rape, and Aggravated Oral Sexual Battery.

Sexual assault is a horrific crime, but Stephens’ victims were both juveniles, which makes his crimes more inconceivable. Police say Stephens’ first victim was 10 years old when he and another male fondled her on several occasions. The victim reported the incidents to the police, and Stephens was charged with Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile.

The second case against Stephens stems from accusations that he and another offender took turns repeatedly raping an 8-year-old girl. Police say the attack occurred around March 25, 2000, when Stephens and another offender observed the young girl at her house. Police say they lived in the victim’s neighborhood.

Cops tell us that the victim and the two men were playing a card game and at some point, the girl asked Stephens for some money that he was holding. Stephens allegedly told the girl that he would give it to her, if she would show them her private parts.

Police say the girl refused, and that’s when Stephens and the other offender took the girl behind a boat in the neighborhood and forced her to lay down. Police say they then took turns raping her while the other one watched.

Police say the girl screamed several times during the assault, which got the attention of her brother. Stephens and his partner in crime were worried they were going to get caught, so they let the girl go. Police say the victim went home and told her parents what had happened.

Police say they need to get this guy in custody before he can hurt another child.

Police say Stephens and the other offender were arrested on March 28, 2000, shortly after the incident, but Stephens fled the area before his court date. Police say he hasn’t been seen since December 17, 2002.

Investigators have learned that Stephens has been working construction in Arkansas, Alabama and South Carolina. Police really want this guy in custody. They believe that Stephens may have molested other victims, and they need the public’s help to track him down.

over 400 assault weapons. He also served in the U.S. Army as an infantry soldier.
