Marcus Mason Colorado’s Most Wanted
by Deborah Takahara
KDVR-TV — A Montbello family prepares to bury its 17 year old son, while police are still searching for his killer or killers. Marcus Mason was walking with his girlfriend near the intersection of 36th and Olive Sunday night. That’s when someone shot him in the back of his head. Marcus’ mother, Josephine Baez, said, “the person that did this was a coward. If you want to hurt someone, take them on one on one. Put the gun down and fight like a man. That was a punk move.”
Police have very little to go on. The only description they have is two black men were seen running from the scene. But they believe there were as many as 20 witnesses that have yet to come forward. Detective John White of the Denver Police Department said, “we believe there are people who have information. We need them to come forward for closure for the family, for the neighborhood.” And Marcus’ mom adds, “it’ll make me feel better to know they caught this guy. The fact that he’s still out there bothers me. He could be looking for his next victim.”
