Most Wanted Fugitives rarely call newspapers to say where they are, but then again, wanted fugitives rarely say they escaped from prison because they have a stomach ache either.

ANDERSON, Ind. — A man claiming to a Westville Correctional Facility escapee called The Herald Bulletin Saturday after the case was broadcast on the “America’s Most Wanted” television show.

The caller told a reporter he was Kelvin Fuller, and he left the prison last week to seek help for an undiagnosed medical condition. He said he suffers from constant stomach aches and has been nauseated for several weeks.

“I complained to jail staff to no avail,” the caller said. “I’m drinking gallons of Pepto Bismol, taking pills, trying to deal with it”

He added that he had no intention of leaving before his undiagnosed condition arose.

So, he didn’t plan to escape. He just got a tummy ache and decided to leave.

The search for the inmate who escaped Wednesday from the Westville Correctional Facility has gained national attention and now includes the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force.

The Indiana State Police on Friday sought help from the public in finding Kelvin J. Fuller, 40, of Anderson, Ind., who escaped Wednesday between 8 and 9:50 a.m.

The escape and call for the public’s help will be featured on “America’s Most Wanted” television show, which airs at 8 p.m. today on the Fox network, said Rebecca Jungel, publicity associate for the program.

The U.S. Marshals Service on Friday offered its help to state police, who are spearheading the investigation.

If the investigation crosses the state line, marshals can coordinate the pursuit with agencies around the country, an agency spokesman said.
